Stacey Laing, BKin, CSEP

Stacey has over 16 years of combined coach and player experience with the sport of volleyball.  Stacey played high school volleyball with Carlton Comprehensive high school, and was selected to 4 Sask Provincial Teams, and played with the University of Saskatchewan Huskies. She is the winner of the Laurie Anne Leier Athletic and Academic Excellence Memorial Award through the Saskatchewan Volleyball Association. 

 

Her focus and greatest knowledge base is with the setting position and she is eager to help develop young setters.  She is a NCCP certified coach in volleyball, basketball, athletics, and gymnastics. 

 

She is also a CSEP certified CPT and CEP.  As a coach she has coached school, club, and provincial level teams.

Stacey has a bachelors degree in Kinesiology and currently works as a Dream Broker for Sask Sport.  Her greatest passion is helping youth see the benefits of sport and creating chances for success in their chosen sport so more people can live and lead a healthy lifestyle.

Kaylan Gazda, BEd, CSEP

Coach Kaylan started playing volleyball in grade 6 and has been playing ever since. She started playing competitively in grade 8 when she made the Alberta Provincial team, and she played on the Alberta Provincial Team for 4 more years including playing at the Western Canada Games and Canada Games.

 

While obtaining her Education Degree, she played for the Grant MacEwan Griffins Women’s Volleyball Team and finished her degree playing for the University of Alberta Pandas. 

 

Since finishing playing competitive volleyball herself, she continues to stay active playing volleyball, competitive ultimate frisbee, and as an avid volleyball coach.

 

Coach Kaylan is passionate about giving young athletes the opportunity to grow and excel through sport. Kaylan is also an NCCP certified volleyball coach and has been coaching volleyball for many years.

June Zimmer, BA, BEd, MSc, PHD 

June is a nationally recognized coach, educator and researcher who was named One to Watch on the Most Influential Women in Canadian Sport list by CAAWS for her work in sport development.  She has also been named a YWCA Woman of Distinction for this same work, and named one of the Most Distinguished Alumni by Campion College at the University of Regina. She has also been recognized by the Premier of Saskatchewan for her outstanding leadership directed at improving opportunity and outcomes for Saskatchewan girls through sport. June has named one of CBC Saskatchewan's Future 40 Leaders for her work in sport as well.

June is a former competitive athlete turned weekend warrior, who was also the founder of Girls in the Game Canada and ICANPLAY Sports Canada Inc. She holds multiple NCCP coaching certifications and has coached many sports including volleyball at the competitive and recreational levels. June works full-time as a financial services executive, and holds many Board positions and business consultancy roles.

Val Watson, CPA

Val brings an extensive level business acumen to the Summit Executive. As a Partner with an international accounting firm, Val has been instrumental in helping to develop Summit Volleyball Inc into a strong business entity. Her background in business, combined with her experiences in sport make her a great leader for this organization. Val is a former athlete herself, and now mom to 3 strong girls all of who are making waves through various sport channels.
